Description
This is a small hand-painted moustiers earthenware pitcher. Earthenware from moustiers (alpes-de-haute-provence department) is among the most notable and valuable manufactures of the 13th century. In the second half of the 18th century, earthenware centers adopted bird decoration to compete with the production of porcelain factories. The bird with long, thin legs of the heron type becomes the main motif of moustiers. This pitcher is signed below by the artist 'mat.j à moustiers' it is in very good vintage condition. There are no cracks or chips dimensions: height: 16 cm, width from spout to handle: 16 cm weight: 925 g this pitcher is to be used for cold drinks, or simple as decoration.
