Description
Superb set of 5 mother-of-pearl effect earthenware spice jars, iridescent white/cream (sugar - flour - coffee - spices - tea). Czech earthenware from the renowned Ditmar & Urbach factory (1919-1939). These 5 spice jars are estimated to date from around 1920-1925. Depending on the brightness, the reflections change. Sometimes very iridescent and colorful, sometimes “pearly” creamy white. Gold lines on the front of the pots, as well as a gold frame on the bottom of each pot. There is also a motif at the top on each side representing a bouquet, surrounded by a serrated oval frame, topped with a knot, the whole thing is also in gilding. Each lid has its golden border. The writings are also golden. Visible traces of time: patinated gilding in different places depending on the pots. Crack repaired on the lid of the largest pot (sugar). No other cracks to report. Good general condition considering their age. Height and width of the pots: Sugar: height: 20 cm / width: 12 cm / depth: 10 cm. Flour: height: 18 cm / width: 10.5 cm / depth: 10 cm. Coffee: height: 16 cm / width: 9 cm / depth: 8 cm. Spices: height: 14 cm / width: 8 cm / depth: 6.5 cm. Tea: height: 12 cm / width: 7 cm / depth: 6.5 cm. Total weight: 2,350 kg. Cleaned. Careful shipping.
