Description
A stunning royal copenhagen stoneware bowl, designed by ivan weiss, made in denmark. The bowl is marked 11/22564, and has the royal copenhagen hallmark in use from 1975 to 1979, as well as ivan weiss' monogram. Weiss (born 1946) is a danish ceramist based in denmark. At the age of sixteen he was trained as overglaze painter at royal copenhagen porcelain manufactory from 1962 to 1966. Apprenticed to the artistic director nils thorsson, ivan optained a great insight to the ceramic field. During the years 1970-72 ivan studied ceramics in hagi in japan, where he learned to throw bowls and fire ceramics. Back in denmark he was reemployed as a ceramist at royal copenhagen, continuing his collaboration with nils thorsson and creating ceramics in a separate studio until 2004. Since then ivan has worked freelance at royal copenhagen and as a guest lecturer at the danish design school. Excellent condition, no chips or craks at all.
