The technique of enamelling was introduced to China by Europe in the 14th century. The first pieces manufactured under the yuan were also called "marquetry from the country of demons (foreigners)". Of the different enamelling processes on a metal base, cloisonné was the most successful. It consists of preparing the application of the coating by welding, on the bottom of the part, thin metal ribbons which will compartmentalize the colors during fusion. The mastery of coloring by adding metallic oxides, acquired by the Chinese in the field of ceramics, allowed them to develop a range of nuanced colors. The success of cloisonné at court led to a massive production of decorative tableware, but also of ritual objects (altar tableware from temples and tombs). Chinese cloisonné enamels are now part of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and are sold throughout the world. Sending in a double-shell package: your cloisonné enamel cup is first packaged in a dedicated box, in bubble wrap, itself in turn packaged and protected from moving bubbles, in a 2nd, larger box.
