Set of 6 vintage napkin rings in silver metal decorated with miniature cutlery

This lovely set of 6 vintage napkin rings is made of silver metal. Round in shape, they are decorated with miniature cutlery: spoon, knife and fork. The napkin ring is a traditional gift: in the past, in wealthy families, the godmother offered a silver object to the child (hence the expression "to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth). The napkin ring napkin was part of everyday jewelry objects and constituted a safe haven, transmitted to the protégé. This present could be accompanied by an egg cup, a spoon or a timpani. The child will keep this present all his life and will use it on a daily basis. This lot measures 4.5 cm X 5.5 cm and has scratches from use and traces of oxidation. One fork is broken.
