Binga basket from zimbabwe. The tonga and binga tribes originate on the borders of three southern african countries (namibia, zimbabwe and zambia). This bantou people derives all their craftsmanship from the women who compose it. Weaving is an ancestral art that has been passed down from generation to generation to give beautiful objects including binga baskets. In this very humid part of the globe, these baskets made from palm leaves are initially used to transport live and food. It was only later that aesthetics gave new life to the creations of these bantou women. Reasons by the thousands come to rest on these baskets that become unique pieces for your deco cravings. Each piece is handmade with palm leaves and natural dyes. They have been designed with a perfect combination of natural colours and materials as well as modern geometric patterns. It takes several days to make a basket by hand. These baskets are often the main income of the families who make them. Each piece is unique. They will add a boho and modern touch to your décor. The mix of natural colours combined with geometric patterns make them clean objects that will also give your interior a trendy side. Express your creativity and compose your own wall gallery by combining several different pieces.
