Description
This remarkable sideboard was once an altar in a temple on the silk road in the 19th century, a true masterpiece in terms of design, carpentry and lacquering. Transformed into a dresser, this piece of furniture will elevate the fengshui of your living room and connect you directly to the apsaras. As an altar intended to support imposing statues, its sturdy siberian elm structure, assembled with precision mortise and tenon, testifies to its sacred function. The three drawers and four doors were used to store the cult dishes, creating a symbolic connection between earth and sky, highlighted by the artistic friezes on the side. These remarkable friezes depict long-tailed birds and peony flowers, displaying confucian rather than buddhist symbols. Originally intended for a taoist temple in shaanxi, this altar embodies the fusion of strength and lightness, sober and colorful, practical and artistic, classicism and originality, thus balancing yin yang of the family. Coated with a superb midnight blue lacquer with surprising reflections, the elm reveals its charm through the different ocher and red layers, warming the surface in cobalt blue. In excellent condition, the interior has been restored in poplar, preserving the old patina and carefully refinished with vegetable lacquer. A magnificent antique living room sideboard in blue lacquered wood, ready to adorn your space with its unique charm. The removable shelves can be adjusted in height on request by our workshop.
