Oak military chest of drawers

Beautiful oak campaign military chest of drawers in light color. The cabinet consists of 2 parts as usual with campaign chests of drawers. Corners are provided with brass in combination with the characteristic flush levers. The original legs are also present. These were twisted off during transport. Quite special that the original legs are still present. Old repairs by means of a dovetail are visible on the sides. Origin: england. Period: approx. 1840-1860. Size: 99cm X 45cm X h.91cm (h.100cm with legs) In the 19th century, these cabinets were taken by british officers of the english army when they were sent to india, for example. They were made in 2 parts for easy and fast transport. The brass corners were applied to prevent damage during transport. The idea that they could move quickly in campaigns/battles in this way was outdated around 1900. Over the years, the collection of campaign furniture of senior officers had grown to such an extent that it became complete relocations and was therefore no longer fast and efficient.
