Raak table lamps, large brutalist complementary pair, aluminum, steel and glass, 1972, Dutch

These brutalist lamps feature many of the signature features of the designs of nanny still-mckinney, the award-winning designer of raak amsterdam. Cleaned delicately while respecting the vintage patina. Recently rewired and grounded, fully functional and pat tested. Each has a new e 27 nickel metal grounded lamp socket, black switch, gray silk cable and new black plug. Bulbs included. It is possible to use these fixtures in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different bulbs suitable for the local electricity. They can be used with a dimmer. This set of complementary lamps similar in design but not exactly the same size and shape. The only variation between the two lamps is that one has a slightly conical shade and the other is slightly taller with a cylindrical shade. The shortest conical shade lamp is: height: 80.5 cm, width: 45 cm, depth: 45 cm each lamp consists of 3 parts: a stainless steel hood, a central column with a combination of discs made of aluminum and colored glass and an aluminum base. The round base is made of brushed aluminum & weighted on the underside which makes these lamps very stable. The 3 rings in the middle contain handcrafted colored glass panels. Each of these 5 rings rotates 360 degrees and can be placed in different positions, as well as moving up and down the main vertical column. At the top of the column is the stainless steel shade with a polished brushed texture on the exterior. The interior is lined with a zinc alloy. The joint in the shade is finished with a flat head bolt. The lampshade is very stable, attached to the main column by two iron frames. The lampshade is screwed to the 4 ends of these arms. Good vintage condition. All glass panels are original with no chips. The glass exhibits the natural irregularities characteristic of art glass, such as minor lines and varied texture. Metal with minor surface marks and tiny dents where shades fit stretcher based on age.
