Rare set of 6 dining room chairs in Oak and Mohair by Guillerme and Chambron, perfectly stable structure, correct seat fabric, consistent with their age Guillerme & Chambron for Your Home, set of eight dining room chairs, oak, reupholstered in mohair, France, 1960s This rare set of armchairs was designed by the French designer duo Jacques Chambron and Robert Guillerme. These chairs feature the signature frame of this French designer duo: well-made, solid and sculptural. Each element is sculpted masterfully. The frame consists of four cylindrical-shaped legs onto which the subtle, curved armrests are attached. The seat has beveled edges and is reupholstered in a complementary off-white mohair tinged with beige. The French designer duo Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) and Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) began production after the war. Robert Guillerme studied design and architecture at the École Boule and graduated first in his class in 1934. In the meantime, Jacques Chambron graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Reims. During World War II, the two men met in a stalag, a Prussian prison camp, while imprisoned by the Germans in East Prussia, and struck up a great friendship based on their intense and deep passion for the interior design. In 1948, Chambron resigned from his job as a painter and decorator on Rue Nollet in Paris to settle in Lille, in the North of France and join Guillerme. A year later, they met the cabinetmaker Émile Dariosecq, owner of a workshop nearby. It was during this meeting that they decided to create their own business. They named it “Votre Maison”, meaning “your home”, which became the soul of the company. They wanted to create pieces focused on functionality combined with beautiful design
