Description
Typewriter, Olivetti Lettera 32, year 60. Vintage. In very good condition. Delivered with a new Black & Red Ribbon installed? She is ready to be used! The Olivetti Lettera 32 is a mechanical portable typewriter, designed by Marcello Nizzoli for Olivetti in 1963 as the successor of the popular Olivetti Lettera 22. This typewriter was popular among journalists and students. This model has been used by Bob Dylan, Sylvia Plath, Philip Roth and Francis Ford Coppola. The typewriter has a size of approximately 34 x 35 x 10 cm (with the carriage return lever, about 1 to 2 centimeters of height), which makes it portable at least for the standards of the time. Cormac McCarthy used an Olivetti Lettera 32 to write most of his fiction, his scripts and correspondence, totaling by his estimate more than 5 million words. The Lettera 32 he bought in 1963 was auctioned at Christie's on December 4, 2009, to an American collector for $254 500 unidentified.
