Offset lithograph on royal consort paper (300gr) - limited edition. Artist's stamp, hand numbered (edition 74/120) printed in 2006 on 300g royal consort paper by steidl verlag for the brancolini grimaldi gallery, florence (italy). Massimo vitali is an italian photographer, famous, among other things, for his panoramas of italian beaches. His favorite activity: observing the human species in a leisure situation. Since 1994, he has always followed the same ritualized process: he locates a densely populated public space – beach, discotheque or winter sports resort –; uses a camera equipped with a special wooden chamber (deardorff), offering a great depth of field; sits on a seven meter high stand to take his photographs; and finally prints them on large format, “a little light”, which gives them a milky appearance and increases their luminosity. His work is collected in museums around the world, such as the guggenheim museum in new york, the national museum of modern art and center pompidou in paris, and the centro de arte reina sofía in madrid.
