Old groom's globe - Glass bell and Napoleon III base Curiosity cabinet 52cm Ht

This antique napoleon III glass globe dates from the 19th century. It is made of mouth-blown glass and the base is made of blackened wood, pierced in the middle. It is a large round glass bell: souvenirs or reliquaries were placed there... Today, fossils or naturalized insects can be kept there, or even a composition of a miniature universe inhabited by small characters... In good general condition, I note chips at the base. This globe measures 52 cm in height X 21 cm in diameter.
