After a first firing, the piece is enamelled and annealed more quickly. At the exit of the oven, the piece is enclosed in a basin containing paper, bark or sawdust to complete its cooking. This cooking method makes each piece unique. Historically, raku pottery appeared in japan around the sixteenth century. It is linked with the "wabi" aesthetic that advocates the beauty of imperfection.
