Description
This watercolor on paper represents a procession in front of the cathedral of rennes. It is colorful, very dynamic, made by jean gobaille (1895-1969) breton painter. It is beautifully made. The frame is gilded with leaf, it has its protective glass. Jean gobaille was born in 1895 in rennes. His work is essentially regional. jean gobaille paints his city of rennes: the lices market, the place railler du baty, the saint-sauveur basilica or the quays at night. It also illustrates the ports and beaches of brittany such as pouliguen, croisic or saint-briac. The first purchase by the state dates back to 1923. The work is natural, it has not been restored, the paper is wavy, we report spots, freckles in the margin. Note friction, scratches and gaps on the frame.
