Library "librenza" - e. Gum - g -plan - circa 1950. This first example of vintage room divider model "librenza" is made from afromosia with blackened or "cabinetd" shelves and designed by e. Gomme for g plan in the late 1950s. It has a very retro base of "dansette" style. This stylish mid-century storage and presentation unit has two drawers and an upper wardrobe with sliding doors and can be placed against a wall or in the center of a room as a divider. Proof of attribution: presence of the brand g-plan e. Eraser inside the 2nd drawer. Condition: good condition, a darker mark on the upper tray of the central box (see photos) Weight: between 30 and 40 kg. About: The english furniture manufacturer and publisher g-plan was founded in 1953 by donald gomme. It is more precisely a subsidiary of the company e. Gum ltd owned by his grandfather ebenezer gomme. Donald gomme is convinced that a more modernist, refined and radical aesthetic can have a place in the british market. It is thus aimed at a younger and progressive audience. In the 60s, when scandinavian style and furniture imported from denmark strongly competed with british production, g-plan called on danish designer ib kofod-larsen to design a new collection. The company was very little appreciated at the time because this furniture was seen as a lower quality version of what was done in scandinavia.
