Description
German dowry chest made of pine, circa 1850. Hand painted with beautiful fine details. The text on the trunk “wir leben so dahin and nehmens night in acht das jeder augenblick das leben kurzer macht”, which translates as “we are so busy that we do not consider that every moment shortens life”. The trunk is made in the southern part of germany. There is a compartment on the inside for valuables. The hinges and lock have been replaced.
