Mid Century Sommerso Murano Glass Bowl By Flavio Poli, Italy, 1960s

Large mid-century modern murano sommerso glass bowl by flavio poli (italy, 1960s). Made of thick green, dark green and transparent murano glass. Extremely decorative. Perfectly works as a bowl, a vide poche, an ashtray or just as a decorative item. Can be used as a display piece on any table. Quite large and heavy, usually this type of bowls are much smaller. Height: 7 cm; width: 17 cm; depth: 16 cm; weight: 1.4 kg. Very good vintage condition. A few scratches. "sommerso" (italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
