Description
This old asparagus dish, flore model, is made from a mixture of smooth earthenware and slip dating from the 1950s to 1960s. It was hand decorated by the salins-les-bains factory and signed by jean jacques, probably in reference to one of the founders of earthenware, the ceramist jean jacques deville, in the 19th century. * deville contributed greatly to improving the quality of earthenware, notably by introducing a gas kiln which made it possible to obtain a remarkable shine on the enamels. He specialized in the production of domestic earthenware, using floral decorations and relief patterns while drawing inspiration from french nature and culture. * the factory flourished in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, becoming one of the most important in france. In the 1950s, it experienced a craze for asparagus dishes and services. * this platter would be a lovely addition to a sunday table with family or friends, ideal for serving asparagus with a mousseline sauce. Despite some cracks in the enamels and a slight loss of color on the edge, it retains all its charm and is in perfect condition, with no chips to report. The dish is marked #salinsdesbains #madeinfrance with the marking “jean-jacques” in blue. * 📏 34 cm length / 19 cm width ⚖️ 1.045 kg.
