French salon

A late 19th Century French Louis XVI style salon suite with carved show frame. Frame depicts flowers and scrolls throughout. All three pieces covered in a fine toile with green figures and landscapes on a cream ground. Toiles were originally produced in Ireland in the mid-18th Century and quickly became popular in Britain and France. In the French language, the phrase 'Toile de Jouy' literally means "cloth from Jouy-en-Josas", a town in the south-west suburbs of Paris.
