Description
Original 1800's, France. These small jars of confit (pots of conservation) were manufactured in the 19th century to preserve food, the pre-refrigerateurs. They are made of sandstone with thick walls and have lips on the top to allow them to be covered with fabric and string. Small candied pots resemble cups because they need that a handful to carry them when they are small, rather than a handle on the biggest pots. This article is very old and enamel is worn in some places, but not chips or cracks. H 10 cm. D 10 cm.
