Writing desk Napoleon III - XIX

Little secretary Napoleon III in Poirier blackened with brass and mother-of-pearl inlays. It features on top a rectangular marble Bright pink of the recessed Pyrenees. It opens in a high belt by a drawer that locks and has inside cleats to prevent it from falling. Underneath, it opens with a key-closing knocker revealing a maple and blackened wood tabernacle consisting of 2 niches and a drawer with 2 moulded buttons simulating two drawers. The interior of the Palissandre cut-out is covered with redone red leather, adorned with gold vignettes and a central motif. In the lower part, it opens with 4 drawers closing by their respective keys and all adorned with inlays. The sides, more sober, are simply decorated with a brass mesh frame. The rear is panelled and it rests on 4 feet tops. - Period: Second half 19th. - Perfect condition after restoration, stripping and varnished finish on a hard background in our workshop. - Open down: Depth 68 cm - Height under down 81 cm.
