Superb mask suah buah mambila from nigeria. Height: 52 x 30 cm. Provenance: private collection, France. Dating: c. 1950 - 1960. Material: wood. Provided with certificate of provenance written by an independent expert. This type of traditional dance mask is found in the northern mambila. It represents the dog suah buah (suaga). There is a variant, suah duah (suaga) that represents the cow. This mask has a wide open mouth and eyes projected forward. These animals are part of mambila mythology.
