Rare! Jean austruy's free-form ceramic cut in perfect condition signed under the base. Jean austruy is a ceramicist born in castres in 1910. A graduate of the school of decorative arts and fine arts in paris, jean austruy moved to saint-marcellin in isère, and taught drawing for nine years in this city as well as at the school of fine arts and industrial arts in grenoble. At the same time, he began ceramics first in his garage, then in a workshop he had built in 1947 his wife jacqueline, also a graduate of fine arts, helped him in his production. They hire employees, and focus on the quality of their production. In 1966, the family business grew with their son yves who helped to develop the production, while remaining faithful to their demand for quality and aesthetics. Sandstone appeared around the seventies. Jean austruy retired in 1990 and devoted himself to his passion: ceramic or bronze animal sculpture.
