Rectangular bamboo-style wooden mirror, period around 1900. Original ice slightly pricked, period hanging chain. Back board curled by moisture. 54 X 39 X 3 cm. Bamboo mirrors in reality only imitate natural bamboo, these wooden works were inspired by the taste for chinese art in the late nineteenth century. It was in victorian england that they took their first steps, then finding themselves in all bourgeois interiors throughout the west.
