GLOBE WERNICKE BARRISTERS BOOKCASE

This is a fine example of a classic Globe Wernicke sectional bookcase which dates to the early 1900s. The bookcase is made of oak and has three sections plus a base plinth with drawer and a top plinth, five parts in total. Each section of the bookcase has a bevelled glass door which slides up and over using a clever mechanism involving hidden metal supports. The interiors bear the original makers label near the back. The wood has a French Polished finish which has a nice sheen. This piece has been sympathetically restored in our workshop, it has an aged look that speaks of its history and previous use in an office setting. CONDITION The bookcase is in good condition, the copper banding is aged and marked and there are various small dents and marks to the wood here and there plus a little crack to the wood on the front of the base plinth. The French Polished finish has worn and dulled a little to the front of the cabinet. MEASUREMENTS height- 117.5cms width- 87cms depth- 27cms at the top internal measurements 23.5cms high x 20cms deep x 81cms wide The measurements are taken at the widest points.
