Very nice original German glass lamp hanging blown Mid century design by Doria Leuchten 60s. Dimensions: diameter 34 cm, total height 60 cm The Doria-Werk Walter Donner GmbH & Co. KG, Fürth was a company for the production of lamps for private use. In addition to glass production and refinement, table lamps, wall and mirror luminaires as well as pendant luminaires were produced. The company was founded in 1945 in Sonnfeld near Coburg and initially moved to the site of the then under compulsory management Dynamit Nobel Werke. In the spring of 1948, the move to the Stadelner Hauptstraße or Werkstraße in Stadeln took place. Here, medium to expensive classified lamps were produced, which had international reputation. Thus, in the 1960s, a huge crystal chandelier from the Doria works came to Saudi Arabia and the once largest lamp in the world was made here. It measured over 10 m in length and consisted of 2 lamps which were fastened against each other. She found her place in a bank overseas. Owner Walter Donner employed about 300 employees during these years. Again and again, Walter Donner presented innovative lamp products at the glass fair in Hanover. Due to cheaper competition, however, the market became more and more difficult in the following years for high-priced barn products. In 1986, the company went bankrupt. At that time there were still around 180 employees. Bernd Hoffbauer from Herner Glas showed interest in the takeover, but was only interested in pure glass production. As unions urged to continue manufacturing byproducts such as lamp racks and brackets, it did not come to a conclusion. Production was completely discontinued in the coming months.
