Large pink plaster bust by artist auguste nayel. 1875. The details, the pose, the attitude testifies to a great mastery. The bust was found as it was in a depot sale ten years ago. The nose and left ear are broken as well as the legion of honour knot, which is missing a piece. According to some research I had done when I found him, it would probably be a notable lorientian "neighbour" of the artist, a doctor named victor mathurin le diberder. The bust has remained in its state with its original patina in my home for ten years and despite its shortcomings it emerges from this portrait a power and intensity unparalleled. I part with it today regretfully because it no longer finds its place in my new "home".
