'Africa' chairs from the Artona series, Afra - Tobia Scarpa, Maxalto, Italy, 1975, batch of four. The sculptural chairs feature many beautiful details, such as the blackened layers of the back, the elegant curve of the cognac leather seat or the brass support of the back feet. The chairs are part of the Artona series for Maxalto, a specialized division of B-B Italia, created in 1975 to focus exclusively on the production of high-end wooden furniture. It was a rebellion against the current use of plastics in design during the previous period. Whole set in incredible condition. In our opinion, one of the most beautiful chairs ever designed.
