Description
Provençal school 20th. Large oil on isorel signed by Fortuné CAR (1905 - 1970). The old shed by the wayside. In its find juice, with its frame as it is. Out of frame 50 x 100 cm. Box 60 x 110 cm. Work with a knife and a brush. Mastery of the large format that recalls that Fortuné CAR, who first took over the studio of his uncle decorator in the 1930s, created numerous sets for theatres, theatres in the region and the Marseille Opera. The subject, an old shed or small picturesque bastidon of Provence, which was already found at the time of the painter abandoned at the turn of a path in the countryside or on the outskirts of a village in the scrubland. See the work of colors (the pink and blue evening sky, the ochres of the earth, walls); horizontality in the path that joins the Alpilles line from the perspective; and against the counterfield, the oblique verticality of an "italic" landscape, where the trees (micocoulier, cypress..) and by contagion, the very vision of the building, of the path, in short of the whole composition, seem to lean under the breath of the mistral. Painter on the Akoun side.
