Superb small covered pot in blue and beige flamed sandstone, geometric shape. The colors are superb and this one is in perfect condition. It is signed on the reverse signed méténier, circa 1930. Gilbert méténier, born in moulins on september 30, 1876, succeeded in 1920 to his father louis méténier and ensured the fame of the sandstones of méténier art. The art sandstones produced by gilbert méténier widely used the techniques of iridescence and crystallization (crystalline enamels) for the decoration of surfaces. The activity continued until 1940, when gilbert méténier would have destroyed all the mussels "so that they do not fall into the hands of the occupier" the sandstones of méténier, sometimes called "bleus de gannat", are all the more sought after as their amateurs are assured of meeting only authentic pieces since, because of the destruction of molds and dies, it is not technically possible to make copies of the parts created by this factory between 1920 and 1939. Size: h10 cm l 9.5 cm.
