Standard glass, natural solid oak frame size 30x40 cm, small single rod. ~ More about the work and its history ~ ~ "Puisque du Monde nous (nous) sommes coupés" is a series of oil paintings produced since April 2020. During the period of the first confinement, the imposed immobility translated into a desire to see the outside world again, which was then impossible to grasp other than through the thought or fleeting illusion of memory. The natural light, by its undulations during the hours of the day and its slow transformation during these two months, took shape as a physical and solid matter by reaching the interior of the domestic space. As through a stained glass window, the eye perceives the materiality of the light through patches of colour and diffractions. This light, through the play of backlighting and vibrations, refers to the visual sensation of phosphenes and the imprecise and nebulous images that memory and dreams can produce. This series has since been enriched by new paintings, which are added one by one to this body of work.
