He made his mark on the fashion world in the 1960s. he then successfully embarked on the creation of perfumes. He was renowned for working with materials that come from areas furthest from those traditionally used. It pushes the provocation of discomfort to the point of using completely metallic dresses such as protective aprons for butchers or knitwear or dresses made of slide or optical fiber stilettos. it replaces the riveting to the seam. Beads and sequins are applied to the fabric using tiny nails finished with a loop. With this technique the embroidery can be done easily on the finished garment in relatively short time. The family workshop of embroidery of paco rabanne composed by his mother and siblings quickly gained the esteem of other stylists like nina ricci, philippe venet or gérard pipart. Details: from 1951 to 1963, paco studied architecture at the National Graduate School of Fine Arts in Paris. he financed his studies by producing fashion sketches, designs of bags for roger model and shoes for charles jourdan. In 1959 he published a series of seven dresses with very clean geometric lines under the name Franck Rabanne in the women's wear daily3. At the end of his studies, he began to craft fancy accessories such as buttons or embroidery wirelessly, or needle that applied on haute couture garments signed balenciaga, nina ricci, maggy rouff, philippe venet, stone cardin, curves, givenchy until 1966. In 1965, he created "junk" accessories in rhodoid (earrings, glasses, helmets) in collaboration with fashionable designers of industrial ready-to-wear. in February 1966, the first "manifest" collection was presented at the George-v Hotel: "12 unwelcome dresses in contemporary materials", embellished with sequins and rhodoid plates5. On April 21, 1966, a second collection was presented with rhodoid beach jerseys at the crazy horse saloon worn by the local artists during the show. architect, craftsman and couturier, paco rabanne innovates, shocks and seduces with his models in riveted leather, ostrich feathers and aluminum exhibited at the iris clert art gallery in Paris in September 1966. October 1966, he settled on shepherdess street in a setting of steel tubing and black walls. he started creating models for the cinema. her creations are visible in films such as two or three things I know about her from jean-luc godard and adventurers to robert enrico or even two-for-the-road trip by stanley donen. Between 1967 and 1970, he experienced a period rich in experiments with materials and revolutionary projects such as paper dresses, fluorescent leather, hammered metal, aluminum jersey and knitted fur. he designs bold creations that will mark the general public like a dress in gold plates encrusted with diamonds, worn by Françoise Hardy; moulded "giffo" clothing and dresses all in buttons. he then created the "rob'auto", a limited collection of ready-to-wear for driving. he will also make dresses for royal casino, film directed by john huston and barbarella de roger vadim. these creations will be acquired by contemporary art museums such as the moma (museum of modern art) in New York. in 1969, he launched his first perfume, "grille", which brought him some success. from 1971 to 1975, he joined the union chamber of sewing. Paco Rabanne incorporates in his collections fabric fringed, lacerated or woven, transforms cholet handkerchiefs, scarves into dresses or socks into sweater sleeves. it is during this period that moulded masks, bustiers and plastic vests appear and the texture in link. in 1973 a first men's perfume, "paco rabanne" for men, was launched. between 1976 and 1989, decidedly interested in men's fashion, he launched a men's ready-to-wear line. its other couture collections are enriched with new materials treated in an unconventional way such as luminescent fabrics, metallic papers, suede open or braided with metal, curtains of wood beads and spectacular shapes. he makes the plastron with articulated hammered metal epaulettes, fur-carved jackets, kite coats, knitwear quilts and "foal"-style shoes. after the success of his dresses in the cinema, he began the creation of theatre costumes. 1990 to 1998: launch of a women's ready-to-wear line. the couture collections multiply the effects of light worked as sculptural volumes: mirror lozenges, plexiglass, laser reflections, fiber optics sign if the rabanne style. accessories (jewelry, headdresses and shoes) are treated as real works in their own right. "Golden Die" for the spring summer 1990 collection. 1996 it is selected for the manufacture of mylene farmer stage costumes during its 1996/1997 tour. between 1999 and 2009, he retired from the haute couture sector but remained ready-to-wear.
