Round mirror from the 60s, with partially glazed terracotta checkered frame, decorated with leaves. Each tile has a different pattern. Signed "capron vallauris france". Roger capron (1922-2006) was a french ceramist. He has won numerous awards and still enjoys great fame today. Passionate about ceramics, he approached this technique in different ways. He modernized the traditional curves of provençal pottery, developed mass production, became interested in decorative tiles and then sculpture. Roger capron studied at the école des arts appliqués in paris until 1943. He became passionate about ceramics and decided to open his own workshop in vallauris with robert picault and jean derval. He is one of the artists who contributed to the return of the golden age of ceramics to vallauris. Subsequently, he opened a factory of about fifteen workers in 1952. He received numerous awards in milan, cannes and brussels. In 1970 he also won the international grand prize for ceramics. The factory closed in 1982. Roger capron's works are present in many art galleries around the world.
