Jacob & josef kohn office chair n°640 – this is the rare, screw-turning version of the iconic n°714 (1903), the very first modernist armchair in curved wood with "quadrangular sections" whose design is now attributed no longer to otto wagner but to gustav siegel then director of the design department of jacob & josef kohn. It appears first in the catalog in 1906 and 1907 on minor proportions (seat of 41 X 42 cm), then in the catalog 1909 in its "full format" - that of our copy. Piece in magnificent state of conservation, structure, patina, and complete! (small original key). It is an original trimmed version that was offered in the catalog as an alternative to the wooden seat in the saddle – the used upholstery was completely redone a few years ago, full grain leather upholstery under nails upholsterer swells. This seat of pure elegance and perfect utility is a true collector of the history of curved wooden furniture called "architect" of the Viennese secession. Stamp + kohn label.-- adjustable seat height, at min. 49 cm, seat 47 X 50 cm, back height in relation to the seat 40 cm, width between the shoulders 52 cm --// delivery all france and EU countries, professional invoice // nb: I also have a chair n°714 on sale: see my other bentwood lots by clicking on the right on "see the objects of this seller".
