Description
An unusual rosewood and teak Indian Pitara sofa dating the late 19th century. It is a large and striking piece of furniture which would work well in a hallway, kitchen or garden. The sofa has been modified at some time to accommodate a window and is is very heavy and solid with decorative metal strapwork and rustic carved finials. The seat is solid, there is no lid, the metal catch to the front is simply decorative. The wood has a natural waxed finish. CONDITION This piece is in good structural condition but is quite rustic looking as with most pieces of old Indian furniture. MEASUREMENTS height - 88cms to top of back rest, 99cms to top of finials, 56cms to seat width - 149cms plus 7cms for the handles depth- 54cms seat- 44cms deep x 129cms wide window space measures 32cms high x 72cms wide with 32cms wood width to the left and 58cms wood width to the right
