Beautiful and rare free-form vase by jean de lespinasse ceramic from vallauris, decorated with stylized motifs against a matte blue background, black interior. 1960s. Good condition. Height 33cm. 25cm diameter. Weight 2.8kg. Signature below: j.d.l. Initials by jean de lespinasse. By the way... Jean de lespinasse (1896-1979) Resistant on the côte d'azur during the second world war, jean de lespinasse and his wife created socfra, which produced ceramics in nice in the late 1940s. Their route will then cross that of roger capron and his wife jacotte, madoura workshops, robert picault or georges tardieu. He and his wife have shops in saint-paul de vence, sainte maxime and vallauris. All the pieces come from his studio in nice, which ceased its activity on his death in 1979. He signs "jdl." The pieces signed by the jean de lespinasse workshop are usually large, nervous and very structured. There is above all a great work in enamel, between the mats and the glosses, which demonstrates a great mastery of the art of ceramics. Bibliography: "brands and signatures of the art ceramics of the càte d'azur" by jean-claude martin, sudarènes editions, page 128.
