Description
Based on “The Triumph of Bacchus (El triunfo de Baco)” by Diego Velasquez (Prado Museum in Madrid). Copy work concentrated on the portrait of one of the drunkards, street men, with a very Spanish air, in the style of Ribera. Oil on canvas, late 19th/early 20th century. On its original keyed chassis. “Los …(?)” inscription on the back of the canvas. 47.5 x 38 cm. In a strong modern frame 60 x 50 x 4 cm. Fairly good condition, with relaxed canvas, a jump of material in the sky, a small dent in the sky, a dent in the brim of the hat. An old repair on the right of the character, in the shoulder fabric.
