Vintage Design This double-jointed hinged Midgard 114 lamp, featuring a chrome reflector, was designed by Curt Fischer and produced by Midgard in Germany. Even before the well known designs by Christian Dell or Marianne Brandt, Curt Fischer invented the so-called 'steerable light' with his articulated workplace lamp, developing the idea from circa 1920 onwards. The metal workshop at the Weimar Bauhaus was illuminated with Midgard lights, serving as an example to Bauhaus students, and can be proven to have been part of the living room furnishing of Ilse and Walter Gropius' master house at the Dessau Bauhaus. The lamp is stamped on the head with D.R.G.M. and on the foot with MIDGARD. This lamp has not been rewired or retouched.
