Description
A true collector, the garden egg chair designed in 1968 by p.ghyczy incorporates typical features of the time: a design inspired by the space age, a form of UFO, portability and the informality of the low seat. It is one of the first chairs made of polyurethane, a 60's flagship material suitable for indoors and outdoors, although as a design icon and collector's item, it is rarely used outdoors. As attractive as it is open and closed with its lay-down coating, it embodies both a functional piece of furniture and a sculptural object. Inside, a soft cushion, covered with a carmine-red tone fabric, promotes comfort and relaxation. The fibreglass hull has slight traces of use relating to its age. The cushion is in very good condition. The "garden egg" chair of peter ghyczic is present in the permanent collections of renowned museums around the world, including the v-a museum (London, gbr), the wende museum (los angeles, usa), the design museum holon (holon, isr) and adam-brussels design museum (Brussels, beautiful). Closed height: 40; Open height 100; Height X seat depth: 30x50cm.
