Paris by day paris by night/paris day and night. This image is part of a collection of photographs of the streets of paris taken in 1965 by an eye at the atget. They show a simple décor, raw, without picturesque. The photographer, a professional visibly, installed on the platform of a truck photographed from the middle of the roadway, hence these escapes, and at night these alignments of lights. For each view, there is a daytime version and a night version. It is assumed that this is a commission for an urban planning project. This is the paris of the films of the new wave, of cléo from 5 to 7, of a woman is a woman or of the 400 hits and the setting of the novels of patrick modiano. In perfect condition, these vintage silver prints are 18 X 24 cm in a 30 X 40 cm black tinted wooden frame. Each print mentions the street name in a transparent cartridge. This picture comes from an ensemble of photographs shot in paris' streets in 1965 by a modern atget. They don't show any picturesque, just a crude decor. The only information we have, is the name of the street in a cartridge. We assume it was a commission for a project related to urbanism or civil engineering. The photographer, a professional obviously, was shooting from the back of a flatbed vehicle from the middle of the street hence these perspectives, these lines of lights. Each view was shot by day and by night from the same spot. It's paris as in the movies of the nouvelle vague, like cléo from 5 to 7 by agnès varda, a woman is a woman by jean-luc godard or les 400 coups by françois truffaut as well as the background of patrick modiano's novels. The silver gelatin vintage prints are on glossy paper. In mint state, they are 18 X 24 cm in a 30 X 40 cm wooden frame.
