Édouard Pauporté, born in Roanne in 1868, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, where he specialized in floral painting. Settling in the Croix-Rousse district of Lyon, he enjoyed a successful career as a designer for the silk industry, and many of his designs were published. As a painter, he was distinguished by his meticulous technique, creating his delicate impasto using a palette knife. This small painting, dating from around 1920, is in excellent condition and retains its original frame.
