Authentic set of midcentury Pierre Jeanneret PJ-SI-45-A X-leg lounge chairs, originally designed for the Chandigarh administrative buildings. This rare set was sourced directly from the High Court Secretariat (H.C.S.), each chair bearing its original H.C.S. / CH marking, confirming its provenance. Also known as the Cross Easy Chair, this model embodies the restrained modernism that defined the Chandigarh project. Crafted in solid teak with handwoven cane, the design is distinguished by its bold X-shaped double-leg frame, angular armrests, and central stretcher—features that lend both structural integrity and sculptural presence. The slanted, independent backrest in flat canework reflects Jeanneret’s meticulous attention to comfort and proportion. Far less common than his compass-leg designs, the X-leg model stands among Jeanneret’s most expressive and sought-after works. The chairs have been expertly recaned and lightly restored, preserving their rich patina and the authentic traces of institutional use that speak to their history. The listed price is per chair.
