Pair of "Costes" armchairs designed by Philippe Starck for Aleph Driade, Italy, circa 1984. Structure in black lacquered tubular steel combined with a curved plywood shell finished in black, padded and covered in black leather. Originally created for the Café Costes in Paris, this model is distinguished by its three-legged base, a technical solution designed to facilitate cleaning and movement within the space. The design balances formal clarity and controlled comfort, giving an iconic silhouette of 1980s design. The early editions, like this pair, do not feature the rear cutout introduced in later versions. Manufacturer: Aleph Driade, Italy, circa 1984.
