Hello I am offering 2 oils on thick cardboard in perfect condition signed Jehann BERJONNEAU (1890-1966), a referenced painter representing 2 seascapes of AMSTERDAM. Nicknamed "The Venice of the North" with its 165 canals with a length of 100 km, its urban landscapes reveal many similarities with those of the famous capital of Veneto. Built in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, these canals are the result of excellent urban planning. As a result, the city of AMSTERDAM was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. AMSTERDAM is the birthplace of many painters. Among the best known are REMBRANDT and Van GOGH where his museum is always very popular. The RIJKSMUSEUM also centralizes the most beautiful pieces of the city's painting collection. The dimensions of each painting are identical. Frame dimensions: 45 cm X 37 cm Dimensions of the work: 40 cm X 32 cm These two oils on thick cardboard, which are perhaps 1 century old, are in perfect condition. These works have been cleaned, then a WINSOR and NEWTON brand anti-UV satin varnish has been applied by a professional. Two identical, recent and modern frames have been added and are particularly robust, made to last over time (glued, nailed and stapled). Influenced by the works of Jean-François MILLET, Camille COROT and Gustave COURBET, Jehann BERJONNEAU (1890 - 1966) is a self-taught painter. It was from 1920 that he began to acquire a certain notoriety by drawing inspiration from and rubbing shoulders with famous artists of his time such as: Robert Louis ANTAL, Gaston BALANDE, Edmond CERIA, André HAMBOURG, Paul-Émile PISSARRO with whom he formed an association called the "Modern Group". He was a member of the "Colonial Society of French Artists", the "Salon des Indépendants", the "Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries". He exhibited regularly in numerous galleries in France.
