Superb hand-knotted afghan rug. Modern craftsmanship, about twenty years at most. This pretty model with dense wool knotting is in very good condition. The cherry red color see bordeaux dominant and the repetitive décor is typical of afghan carpets. Friezes with geometric patterns frame and border the whole. This carpet was made in a traditional way by hand. The irregularities, in particular the asymmetrical rectangular shape for this model, are opposed to a type of mechanical manufacture of lower quality. Length: 121 cm with fringes. Width: about 75 cm.
