Immerse yourself in the world of 1970s pop industrial design with this set of four iconic chairs, boasting timeless charm. Designed to withstand intensive use, the square-section chrome-plated steel tubing creates an airy silhouette. The subtly curved rear uprights extend the backrest's line and give the seat a slight, highly graphic overhang. Both the seat and backrest rest on plywood tops filled with high-density foam and then upholstered in mustard-colored leather-grain imitation leather—a vibrant shade typical of space-age interiors. The formal vocabulary echoes the creations of Gastone Rinaldi and Cidue in Italy, while also emphasizing hexagonal manufacturing: the circular stamp affixed under each seat—a stylized "S" monogram—points to the Strafor workshops in Strasbourg, then a major supplier of metal furniture for administration and education. With demand for 1970s chrome seats regaining ground, driven by the return of brutalist minimalism and 1970s colors, only a handful of identically stamped examples are currently known on the European market, most of them preserved in private or museum collections. This set is distinguished by perfectly taut, crack-free leatherette, while one unit has two superficial tears on the front - defects that do not affect the comfort or solidity of the set. - Dimensions (cm): 76 (H) X 39 (W) X 48 (D) X 44.5 (H seat). Origin & Period: France/Italy, c.1970. Beautiful original condition: three chairs are in very good cosmetic condition, while the fourth shows two chips of leatherette on the front right of the seat (last photo). The chrome is clean, some micro-pitting acceptable for age.
