A fruit bowl from the early 20th century, produced by the German manufacturer WMF, representing the mature Art Nouveau style. Made of brass covered with silver, it takes on an organic, rectangular form with softly undulating edges that harmoniously transition into a rich floral relief. The dominant shade is patinated, warm silver enriched with golden-brown tones on the raised areas and edges; the satin, matte surface contrasts with the subtle shine of the reliefs. The handle, shaped like a winding branch with a leaf, completes the naturalistic character, serving as both a structural and decorative detail. The surface of the bowl is smooth, with a distinct, sometimes raised ornament, and the consistency of workmanship confirms the craftsmanship of the manufacturer. The entire piece shows original discoloration, slight corrosion, and losses of the silver-plated coating – evidence of authenticity and original condition, without signs of modern intervention or restoration. Condition is good: patina and local abrasions are part of the natural aging process of Art Nouveau metals. The bowl brings a breath of the early 20th century into the interior – a moment when nature became an inspiration, and flowing lines and plant ornaments took the lead. The golden-silver light that settles on the relief tells of the creators' admiration for the vitality of nature, and the rounded shapes draw attention to softness and movement. Patinated surfaces, with visible passage of time, exude noble restraint, as if shimmering leaves and branches have remained unchanged since the days when everyday life at home turned into an artistic manifesto. Such bowls are perfect for a console or sideboard in a living or dining room decorated in the spirit of eclectic modernism or classic collector's arrangements. It can be combined with ceramic or glass vases from the era, a mirror in a massive frame, or sets of Art Nouveau candlesticks to emphasize the organic line of the object. It will also work as a single accent against contemporary materials: wood, dark brass, or smooth stone surfaces, where the expressive decoration and noble patina will gain a counterpoint.
