Fat pot

Vertant terracotta pot, 23l capacity. From the 19th century, terracotta pots were used to store food, meats essentially, they were filled with fat, the meat was placed inside and completely covered to prevent air from entering and thus ensure preservation. Salt, oil and fat were the main means of preservation for the time. This pot is still usable for the function specified above, but quite rare today, on the other hand it can be used as decoration or more commonly to put flowers in your gardens.
