Design history enthusiasts, here is an exceptional opportunity. I am offering for sale a pair of "Tonneau" chairs (model G1) designed by the master of French design, Pierre Guariche. This is not the classic version in thermoformed wood, but the extremely rare version in die-cast aluminium. Produced in very limited quantities by Steiner in the mid-1950s, this metal edition is now a museum piece, sought after for its radical industrial design and robustness. Prestigious Provenance: These chairs are part of the original furnishings of a master apartment located at the Palais des Îles, on the Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes. This historic site belonged to an Arab Prince and has hosted numerous personalities and royals. They have remained in the same family since their acquisition. Condition: The chairs are presented "in their juice, " a guarantee of their total authenticity: Shell: Intact aluminium structure, without deformation. Upholstery: Original off-white Skaï (shows cracks and signs of use, see photos). Base: Black lacquered tubular steel with a patina of time (slight traces of oxidation confirming their age). You can choose to keep them as they are for their historical charm or have them reupholstered to restore their 1954 shine.
